Two football teams from the world of pensions swapped their work attire for kits and boots to have a friendly kickabout for charity.
In a match played in Brighton last Friday (8 March), a team from the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) and The Pensions Regulator (TPR), went head-to-head in the pensions equivalent of the FA Cup final - raising over £500 for the PPF's elected charity partner Lives Not Knives.
Lives Not Knives is a youth charity which aims to tackle knife crime, youth violence and school exclusions by engaging with disadvantaged young people and empowering them to improve their future prospects and to enjoy their lives.
In a tightly fought contest, the team representing the regulator triumphed over the lifeboat fund's team by five goals to three.
PPF team captain Joe Swindlehurst said: "Despite the result, the PPF v TPR game couldn't have gone any smoother!
"Thanks to everyone who donated and helped organise the event from both the PPF and TPR. The money raised for Lives Not Knives is the main reason we got involved in this event, so to see us raise over £500 is incredible!"
Lives Not Knives educate hub programme manager Paul Bogle added: "A huge thank you to the PPF and TPR for organising such a fantastic fundraiser. It was an intense match, and everyone clearly gave it their all. I can't wait for the rematch."
