PPF 7800 deficit slashed by nearly a third over April

The combined defined benefit (DB) deficit decreased by £33.9bn over April to £81.7bn on a section 179 basis, according to the Pension Protection Fund's (PPF's) latest update.

This was a decrease of 29% from the end of March. The position has also improved from a year ago, when a deficit of £179.8bn was recorded. Over the month, liabilities for schemes in the lifeboat...
