Phoenix Group appoints ex-Unilever pension CIO

Wendy Mayall who is the former chief investment officer (CIO) of Unilever's pension fund has been made a non-executive director at Phoenix Group.

She takes up the position from 1 September and has over 30 years' experience in asset management and pension investment.

Most recently she worked at LV= from 2012-2015 as group chief investment officer (CIO) and latterly as a consultant.

Before that Mayall was CIO for Unilever's UK defined benefit pension fund from 1996 to 2011.

From 2006 to 2009, she was the chair of the investment committee of the Mineworkers Pension Scheme, one of the largest government-backed pension funds in the country.
John Pollock and Nicholas Shott will join Mayall as fellow non-executive directors.

Pollock was previously an executive director at Legal & General Group from 2003 to 2015 while Shott continues as head of UK investment banking at Lazard.

Rene-Pierre Azria will be leaving the board on 30 November after seven years.
