King receives £1.4m pension payment early

Mervyn King received a £1.4m pension top-up after signing on for a second five year term as Governor of the Bank of England in 2008, so he could secure his retirement earlier than usual.

The payment increased his pension pot from £3.95m to £5.36m. King is in line to receive a pension which is two-thirds of his final salary. The equivalent annual pension when he leaves his job in...
