2010 saw the European ETF industry surge, with assets under management hitting $284bn at the year end, and more institutions adopting these funds for their transparency, liquidity and simplicity. However, uptake of ETFs in Europe among institutions seemingly lags that of the US market, as pension funds need greater education and must be convinced of the merits on offer versus traditional index funds.

This Conjecture will discuss how pension funds and institutional investors are currently using ETFs in Europe and how the market needs to develop in order to ensure greater uptake.

The ETF panel includes:

Manooj Mistry -Head of db X-trackers ETFs and db-X ETCs in the UK,
db x-trackers ETFs

Matthew Holden - Managing Director Head of ETF Trading Europe, Knight

Nizam Hamind - Head of ETF Strategy, Lyxor
