PRESSURE from pension schemes is improving research coverage of extra-financial issues, latest Enhanced Analytics Initiative research reveals.
The group of asset managers, pension schemes and other investors – which aims to encourage investment research that considers the impact of extra-financial issues on long-term company performance – said providers had made notable advances in the integration of EFIs into financial analysis and their coverage of complex emerging themes
The evaluation, undertaken by investment consultancy onValues, assessed reports from a total of 22 research providers and identified eight institutions that had provided the best analysis of extra-financial issues over the period.
Three of these – Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Société Générale – were ranked as "outstanding", based on the quality, quantity and level of integration of research, with a further five institutions being commended.
EAI chairman Peter Scales explained: "This is testament to the EAI’s progress to date and the reason why we continue to consider how to increase the sophistication of the evaluation process as we move forward."
The EAI membership includes the BT Pension Fund, Universities Superannuation Scheme and the London Pension Fund Authority.
